Shade tree wisdom 8/23/16

Shade Tree Wisdom 8/23/2016 From the Sermon on the Mount, this direction. “So, whatever you wish that Others would do to you, Do also to them, for this is The law and the prophets. Matthew 7,12. We often forget this simple rule just because it is so simple. It really is ‘tit for tat’, is it not? But by doing it our lives will benefit richly. GPD 8/23/16

Shade tree wisdom 8/20/16

Shade Tree Wisdom 8/20/2016 Psalm 12 is a cry for help. It ends with these words. “On every side the wicked Prowl, as vileness is exalted Among the children of men.” Psalm 12,8. When evil and wrong flourish, the Christian must cry to God for help. He can and does say with the poet, “It is well, it is well, for my soul”. GPD 8/20/16

Shade tree wisdom 8/19/16

Shade Tree Wisdom 8/19/2016 How do we use our church “And He entered the temple And began to drive out those who sold saying to them, “it is written, My House shall be a place of prayer but you have made it a den of robbers.” Luke 19,46. That raises an interesting question. How do we use our church? To worship and sing praise to God and pray? Or are we among those who come to see a relative and gossip? What’s your answer to this simple observation? GPD 8/19/16

Shade tree wisdom 8/7/16

Shade Tree Wisdom 8/17/2016 The verse from Psalm 31 tells us we are ever in God’s care. “My times are in Your hand,: Rescue me from the hand of My enemies, and from my persecutors. Make your face shine on your Servant; save me in your stead fast love.” Psalm 31, 15.16 That is a comforting prayer David spoke when he was in dire distress, And it is a prayer we might use to find comfort in our Caring God. Shade tree wisdom 8/16/16

Shade Tree Wisdom 8/16/2016 Let us remember that we live under God’s loving care, wherever we may wander. God is there. “For a man’s ways are before The eyes of the Lord, And He ponders all his paths.” Proverbs 5,21 Ponder, consider or examine closely. When we sin, we always sin against God. GPD 8/16/16

Shade tree wisdom 8/15/16

Shade tree wisdom 8/15/16 It is in our nature to worry and fret about things, So Jesus advises us. . . “There fore tell you, do not be Anxious about your life, what Yu will eat or what you will drink Nor about your body, what you Will put on. Is not life more than Food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, they Neither sow or reap or gather into barns, Yet your heavenly Father feeds them, Are you not of more value than they?” Matthew 6,25 We sit down to eat a meal, and wonder what’s next on the menu. Jesus puts it in perspective when he uses the birds as comparison does He not? GPD 8/15/116

Shade tree wisdom 8/9/16

Shade Tree Wisdom 8/9/2016 John ends his Gospel with these words. “Now there are also many other Things that Jesus did. Were every one of them To be written, I suppose That the world itself could Not contain the books That would be written.” John 21,25 But the most precious word for us is the salvation story that the Gospel, indeed, the entire Bible contains, Jesus came to save us, that is why He died on the cross, for us. Shade tree wisdom 8/6/16

Shade Tree Wisdom 8/6/2016 St. John wrote in his first letter these memorable words. “My little children, I am writing these things to you So that you may not sin. But If anyone does sin, we Have an Advocate with The Father, Jesus Christ, The righteous. He is the propitiation for Our sins, but not for ours Only, but also for the sins Of the world.” l John 2, 1.2 An advocate is one who pleads for another, states his case, as it were, asking for forgiveness. Or do something to make it right. In the case of our sins, they are not made right but, as Scripture teaches, drowned in the depths of thee sea,. In other words, they are gone, GPD 7/6/16

Shade tree wisdom 8/5/16

Shade Tree Wisdom 8/5/2016 This is something we so often take so lightly, don’t we? “If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to Forgive ours sins, and to Cleanse us from all Unrighteousness.” 1 John 1,9. There is a saying stating, ’confession is good for the soul’. It something we do so rarely, consciously, isn’t it, yet Jeremiah reminds us, in chapter 31, “I will remember your Sins no more” And it happens only because Jesus Christ paid the price for the sins of the world when He died on the cross.
