Shade Tree Wisdom 10/3/15

Shade Tree Wisdom 10/3/15
Here are some words from Amos, one of the minor prophets, who lived as a  shepherd in Tekoa, a small village some 5 miles south of Jerusalem. He said in one of his prophesies:
“ who is prudent
Will keep silent n
Such a time,
For it is an evil time.”
Amos  5,13.
What kind of speech is needed at such a time? Shootings in an Oregon college, debate about carrying guns on campus, debate whether it might be prudent to carry a gun at all?
Unrest everywhere one looks, it seems.
The Speaker of the Senate resigning, citing being misunderstood abused generally.
Europe in unrest over immigration. And then there is Russia.
In all this, it is better to keep silent and pray for the situation, for it God who is still above all, and we rest in Him.
