“Do not be anxious” Luke 12,22
That was advice given to His disciples by Jesus as He talked at length about life. Here is the entire quote:
“And He said to His disciples, Therefore I tell
you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body,
what you will put on. For life is more than food, and body more than clothing.. Consider the ravens, they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse
nor barn, and yet God feeds them.
How much more value are you than birds. . .O ye of
little faith”
Luke12, 22-29.
We have often read those words, and
spoken of them, but so often they sort of pass by, too familiar to really hear them, or heed them.
“Don’t
be anxious”, but we often are. Worrying and fretting seems to be sort of built
into the human system. We just can’t help it.
But it occurs to me God uses such times to
stretch our faith, to add strength and stamina for the days that may lie just
around the next corner.
Just
take a moment to see if that isn't true in your life. Life runs along, going pleasantly, morning coffee, the drive to the office, settling down for a day of
work when the phone rings. Something has happened to upset your serene existence and you are rushing to
wherever you needed to be, and you do find the faith-muscle to deal with the
tragedy, or whatever has happened.
That
is why Jesus told His disciple that story about the ravens, to help us grow.
